A Card From Priest Kwiatek

"For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive;
and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon him."

The card was received from Priest Ryszard Kwiatek most probably in the early 1970s as he worked in our parish from 1968 to 1977, and he used to be my sister's Bible teacher.

Ryszard Kwiatek was born on 30 June 1940 in Raciniewo, Poland. He served in many parishes, he became a provost and Vice Dean of the Torun Deanery and an Honorable Chaplain of Pope John Paul II.
Priest Ryszard died on 4 Oct. 2018. He was 79 years old.

Sweet heart of Mary be my aid


The card is the reminiscence of the first mass celebrated by Priest Stanislaw Stypa, Pallottine.

Stanisław Stypa was born on 9 Nov. 1928 in Kosobudy, Poland. His first mass took place probably in Ołtarzewo in 1954. Priest Stypa worked in various parishes all over Poland. The man died from a stroke and hypertension in 1987.

Pallotines known also as the Society of the Catholic Apostolate are missionaries.

The inscription on the card says:

"What will I give back to the Lord for everything good he has done to me? 
I will raise the Chalice of salvation and the Lord's Name I will call upon."

The remembrance of the priesthood ordination (Lublin, 28 June 1958) and the first holy mass run by Father Eugeniusz (the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin) whose real name was Brunon Wendt. The mass took place in Gdynia, Poland on 8 July 1958.

Priest Kazimierz Szyndler was the rector of the parish church in Gdynia Oksywie from 1946 to 1947.
The card is a gift from him received during the annual Christmas Carol call in 1946/47.

Saint Jude The Apostle

St. Jude (Jude Thaddaeus/Judas Thaddaeus) was born in 1st Century AD in Galilee, Rome/died in about 80 AD, Persia. He was one of the twelve Apostles.

St. Jude's feast day is 28 October and 19 June. His attributes are a medallion, an ax, a boat, and an oar. Saint Judas Thaddaeus is the saint patron of Armenia and difficult life matters.

Saint Gaspar del Bufalo

Gaspar Melhior Balthazar del Bufalo was born on 6 Jan. 1786 in Rome. His parents were Annunziata and Antonio del Bufalo. The father was a chef in the home of the Altieri family.

Gaspar was devoted to helping the sick and poor, founded religious organizations for young people who did charity work as well. He became a priest in 1808.

Gaspar del Bufalo refused to serve Napoleon Bonaparte and was exiled in 1809 as a result of that. The priest founded the Missionaries of the Precious Blood - the priest members of that society established missionary houses and preached on the streets.

Gaspar died on 28 Dec. 1837. He was canonized by Pope Pius XII on 12 June 1954.


Saint Gaspar del Bufalo's feast days are 28 December and 12 October.



The back of the card contains the word from Priest Jarosław Jabłoński, provincial (a major superior) of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in Czestochowa, Poland.
